I'm Not Normally So Stressed

Why did I choose the domain name "tech ulcer" you may be asking?  Because starting this class has already caused me to develop a small ulcer.  I could not connect to the internet because I could not find my password.  I don't have the right internet browser.  I ate three cookies (real chocolate chip cookies, not the mystifying computer 'cookies' that I don't understand) just trying to find our class website.  This is more daunting than I expected it to be!

Things about me:
*I'm a social worker.
*I'm a Cubs fan, a Bears fan, and a bandwagon Blackhawks fan.
*I'm a Northwestern Wildcat, and I love college football season.
*I adore hair metal music... and I've been learning guitar and electric guitar for about 15 years.
*My home has no internet or cable!

This summer, I travelled to Sicily, Italy for my best friend's wedding.  It was amazing, but I was away from my daughter for the first time (and that was terrible!).

My Kiddo!

I am originally from Michigan, and my mom and most of my relatives still live there.  My sister and her two girls live outside Boston.  I miss my family very much!  We had a great reunion at my home this summer right before school started.  I have started an annual tradition of a family photo at JCPenney.  Here is the gang of girls:

I am obsessed with the Olympics and watch them avidly every two years.  I watch every minute of coverage available to me, regardless of the sport being shown.  This is why I was so surprised when I saw an event that was new to me this summer -- team rhythmic gymnastics!  It reminds me of Cirque du Soleil.  If you have not seen video of this event before, you have to check out this website.

I used to attend live music performances 2-3 times monthly, but I haven't seen a concert since the birth of my daughter.  Instead, I play CDs around the house constantly, and I am eagerly awaiting the release of a new CD from my favorite band in November!

I am hoping that this tech class increases my tech knowledge and confidence, keeps me from developing a generation gap between me and the tech-savvy students, and reduces my ulcer-related symptoms that tend to arise when a new gadget is introduced to education!  Thanks for reading.
